FILTRATION · DESALINATION
LOCATION
New Alamein
APPLICATION
Desalination
MEDIA SUPPLIED
Anthracite and calcite
PLANT FLOW RATE
150,000 m³/day
The New Alamein desalination plant, on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, has a capacity of 150,000 m³/day. The facility uses reverse osmosis and was developed to supply a new urban and tourist area with growing demand for drinking water.
KEIKEN’s reference covers the supply of two mineral media with distinct functions: anthracite for the filtration stage and calcite for remineralising the permeate. The combination meets two essential needs of an SWRO plant: protecting the membranes and conditioning the product water.
The project was completed in 2019 and has ten reverse osmosis trains. Aqualia/FCC’s involvement in the project is publicly documented.
