Our contribution

Supply of calcite for remineralisation
The scope of this reference is the supply of filtration media. The flow rate stated describes the plant in which they are installed.

The project

The Agadir desalination plant combines the production of drinking water and irrigation water in the Souss-Massa region. Its initial configuration reaches 275,000 m³/day: 150,000 m³/day for urban supply and 125,000 m³/day for agricultural use.

KEIKEN supplied calcite for remineralising the reverse osmosis permeate. This stage restores alkalinity and hardness, stabilises the product water and brings it into line with the requirements for distribution and end use.

The facility passed its contractual tests and entered service in 2022. The project was developed as a public-private partnership for ONEE and the Ministry of Agriculture. The figure of 275,000 m³/day is the documented initial capacity; an expansion has since been announced.
