ENERGY EFFICIENCY · SELF-CONSUMPTION
67 kWp solar PV self-consumption on an industrial building
An installation on the roof of a Barcelona company that generates 92,981 kWh a year and consumes all of it, with no surplus exported to the grid.

Our contribution
Engineering, installation, permitting and commissioning
The scope covers engineering and validation, flush-mounted roof structure, electrical installation in compliance with the Spanish Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT), permitting and inspection by the regional industry authority, testing, commissioning and after-sales service.
The project
The plant uses 274,769 kWh a year, and uses it while working: the profile of an industry in continuous operation. From that starting point, the sizing did not aim to cover all consumption, but to ensure that every kilowatt-hour generated was used within the building itself.
146 modules of 460 W were installed on a flush-mounted roof structure, with two three-phase inverters of 33.3 and 20 kW and 78 power optimisers, one for every two modules. Optimising in small groups prevents shade on one area of the roof from pulling down the output of the rest of the array.
The result is 92,981 kWh a year, just over a third of the plant’s consumption, with zero export: all the energy generated is consumed on site and none is fed into the grid. KEIKEN also handled permitting and the inspection by the regional industry authority.
Energy Efficiency line
Self-consumption for businesses: we size each system to the plant’s actual consumption so that the energy generated is used where it is produced.
