Our contribution

Engineering, supply, installation and commissioning

The scope covers the mounting structure, modules, module-level optimisation, inverters, storage with backup, lifting equipment and system configuration.

The project

A city hotel uses electricity steadily throughout the day and much of the night: air conditioning, hot water, kitchen, laundry and common areas cannot stop. That consumption profile makes the best use of solar PV, because generation coincides with demand instead of being exported to the grid.

The installation comprises 208 double-glass 450 W modules on a flush-mounted structure, with power optimisers on every module. Module-level optimisation prevents occasional shading or soiling on one panel from pulling down the output of the whole string, which matters on a city roof where different elements cast shade at different times of day.

Conversion is split between two three-phase inverters of 33.3 kW and 20 kW, plus two 10 kW hybrid inverters with backup function. These connect to 18.4 kWh of storage in four battery modules and a backup interface, so the hotel’s essential services remain powered if the grid fails. KEIKEN carried out the installation, lifting operations, configuration and commissioning.
