The scope of this reference is the supply of filtration media. The flow rate stated describes the plant in which they are installed.
The project
Shuqaiq 3 IWP is one of the large reverse osmosis desalination plants on the Saudi Red Sea coast. Its capacity of 450,000 m³/day can supply an estimated population of around two million people.
KEIKEN references the supply of anthracite for the filtration stage. Used in pretreatment beds, it helps retain solids and reduce the load reaching downstream stages, helping to protect the membrane system.
The plant reached commercial operation on 9 January 2022 under a 25-year water purchase agreement with Saudi Water Partnership Company. ACCIONA publicly took part in the project as EPC contractor and shareholder.
