Our contribution

Supply of manganese dioxide for filtration
The scope of this reference is the supply of filtration media. The flow rate stated describes the plant in which they are installed.

The project

The Bajo Almanzora desalination plant is located in the municipality of Cuevas del Almanzora, Almería. It was designed to produce 60,000 m³/day, equivalent to 20 hm³/year, for urban supply and irrigation in the district.

KEIKEN’s reference covers the supply of manganese dioxide for the filtration stage. This catalytic medium is used in treatment processes that require the oxidation and retention of iron, manganese or other compounds, depending on the water chemistry and the process design.

The plant entered service in 2011 and was taken out of operation after the floods of September 2012. Acuamed has a project under way to repair it and return it to service. This page presents the supply reference without attributing the construction or operation of the facility to KEIKEN.
