- Aquamandix: manganese dioxide for iron and manganese
Aquamandix
Manganese dioxide (MnO₂) is a mineral compound used as a filtration medium in water treatment and drinking water production.
What is manganese dioxide used for in water treatment?
Manganese dioxide promotes the oxidation and removal of dissolved iron and manganese. It is mainly used in pressure and gravity filters, helping improve treated-water quality. Its catalytic activity and effectiveness in metal removal make it a suitable solution for water treatment applications.
Answers to your questions about manganese dioxide
What is manganese dioxide used for in water treatment?
It removes iron and manganese from water where they are present in excessive concentrations, in both drinking water and industrial water treatment.
How does it work?
It acts as a catalyst, oxidising dissolved iron and manganese so that they precipitate and are retained in the bed. The mineral’s catalytic activity is therefore essential.
What is the purity of Aquamandix?
Up to 85%, in accordance with EN 13752.
Can it be combined with other filtration media?
Yes. It is used in single-media, dual-media and multimedia beds together with sand, gravel and anthracite.
Is it suitable for pressure filters?
Yes. It can be used in both gravity and pressure filters.
Which packaging formats are available?
It is supplied in 1 m³ big bags and 25 kg bags.

We are a B Corp company
B Corp certification independently assesses a company’s environmental and social performance, transparency and legal accountability. For us, it is more than a label: it provides a framework for our technical decisions. Every plant we design is also assessed for its energy consumption, the water footprint it helps reduce and its impact where it is installed.
