ENERGY EFFICIENCY · SELF-CONSUMPTION
33 kWp solar PV self-consumption for a residential community
An installation on the roof of a residential community in Alcobendas that covers almost three quarters of its consumption with its own energy.

Our contribution
Engineering, installation, permitting and grant applications
The scope covers engineering and validation, mounting structure, electrical installation in compliance with the Spanish Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT), permitting and inspection by the regional industry authority, and documentation for grants.
The project
A residential community’s consumption (lifts, car park, entrance, common areas, pumping) is constant and mostly daytime, and it is shared among all the owners. That makes it one of the cases where self-consumption fits best, and also one of the hardest to get started, because the decision lies not with one person but with an owners’ meeting.
The installation comprises 60 modules of 550 W on the roof, with a 29.9 kW three-phase inverter and one power optimiser per panel. On a city roof surrounded by taller buildings, panel-level optimisation stops the shade falling on a few modules in the mid-afternoon from pulling down the output of the whole string.
The installation generates 53,410 kWh a year and covers 74% of the community’s consumption, avoiding 14.42 tonnes of CO₂ a year. KEIKEN handled permitting, the inspection by the regional industry authority and the documentation for grants.
