Your own power: efficiency, savings and lower emissions.
Investing in a solar PV installation is one of the soundest decisions you can make right now. Producing and consuming your own energy has always been a good option, and today a PV installation at home or at your business is more attractive than ever.
High energy prices and global geopolitical uncertainty will worry you less and have a smaller impact on your electricity bill. And by consuming your own clean energy, you help protect the environment by reducing your carbon footprint.
Wherever a grid connection is possible, we recommend staying connected, mainly to maintain comfort at home or at work at times of lower solar output or during weather events such as heavy snowfall.
A PV installation is relatively simple and consists mainly of a number of solar panels and an inverter. The inverter is the brain of the installation: its main job is to convert the direct current generated by the modules into the alternating current used in homes and businesses. Through our partners we can offer practically every brand. Based on our experience, we recommend SolarEdge, a high-end system from Israel with proven performance and warranty. It uses optimisers that maximise output and minimise the losses caused by dirt or shading on the panels: each panel works independently, so one panel does not drag down the rest. The optimisers also provide valuable monitoring data for each individual panel, and SolarEdge allows panels of different power to be combined, for example if a panel has to be replaced in the future, which some other systems do not allow. For the panels, we use modules with a strong price-performance ratio, always from brands with very similar efficiency that rank among the top manufacturers each year. Today’s panels produce energy even on cloudy days.
At KEIKEN we carry out tailored studies and size each installation to the client’s consumption. All we need is the home’s consumption pattern over a year, which can be obtained from an electricity bill or from the supply point code (CUPS) shown on it. This information is used only to compare the home’s consumption with the expected output of the installation, which is estimated with specialist software based on historical irradiation data, so it is very reliable. It is advisable to oversize the installation by 20–30% to cover all of the home’s consumption in annual terms. In winter, output will be lower, but there will still be a significant contribution and considerable savings on the bill. In spring and summer, when output is highest, all of the home’s consumption will be covered, and throughout the year surplus energy will be compensated by your electricity supplier. In those months the energy cost on your bill can approach €0, leaving only the contracted power to pay. Choosing the right supplier is very important, as some compensate surplus energy better than others, depending on whether they use an indexed or fixed price; with today’s high energy prices, indexed compensation is usually more attractive.
Our study also includes a financial analysis with estimated savings and payback period, as well as an assessment of the reduction in your carbon footprint. We use high-quality equipment and installers experienced with all types of surfaces and roofs, and our customer service is direct and fast, to answer questions and speed up paperwork.
