In renewable energy such as solar or wind, one way to improve its applications and flexibility is to add energy storage batteries.
Why are batteries needed?
Because these renewable sources are not constant: they are intermittent and cannot be used continuously 24/7. Solar power is only available during the day, and wind power only when wind speeds are suitable; above about 25 m/s or below about 4 m/s, turbines cannot generate, as high winds could damage the equipment.
Batteries store the energy generated so it can be used at any time, even at night or when there is not enough wind. They can charge during generation peaks, when output is not being used, and discharge during consumption peaks.
Renewable generation, a suitable climate and energy storage together drive the transition towards self-consumption. These systems can also provide a continuous, secure and sustainable energy supply in areas with frequent power cuts or poor access to energy. In these remote areas, a back-up generator can be installed to charge the batteries during periods of bad weather when renewable generation is not possible.
A good example for a home in an area with poor access to energy is a solar plant, an inverter-charger and energy storage batteries, with a small generator as back-up.
In addition to storage batteries, KEIKEN recommends our ENERTEQ energy saver, which significantly reduces energy consumption while protecting equipment and extending its service life, making the solution even more efficient and sustainable.
These renewable technologies improve energy efficiency, promote self-consumption and improve quality of life, as they are silent compared with generators. They are also environmentally friendly and support the switch to green energy.
At KEIKEN, our priorities are to:
- Provide our clients with a quality service using the latest technology.
- Reduce their energy costs and consumption.
- Protect the environment by investing in renewable energy.
- Give their business energy security.
