IBEROEKA is a certification awarded to selected key innovation projects for member countries, involving partner companies from at least two Ibero-American countries, which allows them to apply for funding from national agencies. IBEROEKA is a quality seal for innovation projects that recognises the project’s potential social impact in the participating countries.
To obtain it, the joint project must be submitted in each participating country, where it is assessed independently by the authorities. If it meets each country’s objectives and requirements, it is awarded official IBEROEKA project certification. In this case, the IBEROEKA seal has been awarded to the project ‘Sustainable desalination plant for an efficient water and energy management cycle’.
Each country has an IBEROEKA Managing Body (OGI), which assesses the proposed project in contact with its companies. In Spain, the OGI is the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI).
This innovation project aims to achieve low-energy desalination using renewable energy, with electricity consumption of less than 1 kWh per 1,000 litres of drinking water produced.
KEIKEN would like to thank everyone involved in preparing the proposal, and the CDTI for placing its trust in this project, which has very high potential.
