Our contribution

Anthracite supply for filtration
The scope of this reference is the supply of filtration media. The flow rate stated describes the plant in which they are installed.

The project

The Minjur desalination plant is located in Kattupalli, north of Chennai. It was designed to produce 100,000 m³/day of drinking water and reduce dependence on sources affected by monsoon variability.

KEIKEN references the supply of anthracite for the filtration stage. This medium is commonly used in desalination pretreatment to form low-density beds that retain solids ahead of fine filtration and reverse osmosis.

The project was developed under a DBOOT scheme for the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and entered service in 2010.
