COMPACT PLANTS · DESALINATION
Compact 100 m³/day desalination plant
Seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant for a tourist facility on the Catalan coast, with energy recovery and final remineralisation.
LOCATION
Catalan coast
APPLICATION
Seawater desalination
TECHNOLOGY
Reverse osmosis with energy recovery
PLANT FLOW RATE
100 m³/day of drinking water (225 m³/day feed)
Our contribution
Design, construction and commissioning of the plant
The scope covers basic and detailed engineering, construction, testing and inspections, manuals and supervision of commissioning.
The project
A tourist facility on the Catalan coast needed to secure its own drinking water supply in the high season, when demand is concentrated in a few weeks. The water available on site was seawater.
KEIKEN designed and built a compact desalination plant that produces 100 m³/day of drinking water from 225 m³/day of seawater. The treatment train combines initial chemical conditioning, media and cartridge filtration, reverse osmosis desalination with energy recovery devices and a cleaning system, and final remineralisation adjusted to the intended use.
The water produced meets World Health Organization quality criteria. The concentrate is returned to the sea through an outfall with diffusers, which promotes dilution and limits the effect on the surrounding environment in accordance with applicable regulations.
Compact Plants line
Compact and modular desalination plants, sized to the water source, the flow rate and the actual site conditions.
